Artist's Comments

The mouse is hovering above the button on the right, showing the transparency effect. It's the same for the other button. The power button (top right) also displays on-hover transparency effects.

I've included Replacer (with permission) to help with replacing the original logonui.exe. However, I'd strongly recommend the LogonUIBoot Randomizer which makes using several LogonUI screens very easy.

I've included three other versions of this (in my scraps): Blue, Red and Monochrome.

The photo was taken by me. Any comments and criticism are greatly appreciated.

All I can say is that I love the photo...the light coming through the leaves is beautiful.

hah, it's not that good, I just pointed my camera at the sun through a tree. Crude as that may sound.

I really like the warm, green light created by the beams of the sun passing through the healthy, thin leaves x3

I love the way a simple concept can create such an intricate piece. I would download and use some of your log in screens but I'm using a shared computer and I cannot garantee my tastes will be the same as everyone elses. However, I will favourite it and when I have my own PC up and running (should be soon) this'll be the first place I'll come looking for a log in screen. Well done. :+fav: :)

this is very nice and I'd like to use it, but when I try to run the replacer the cmd window disappears as soon as it appears, saying "file failed to extract".
I don't know anything about these things so the readme didn't help me much. ideas?

That's odd. I downloaded it myself and tried it out. You have to make sure the files "Replacer.cmd" and "data" are in the same folder. It's referring to the files inside "data" with the "file failed to extract" message.

Just extract everything from Leaves_Green.zip into the same folder, any you want, double-click Replacer.cmd and follow the instructions it gives you. When it says "drag and drop the ORIGINAL system file to be replaced", type in (easier to type in that to go looking for it):

C:\Windows\System32\logonui.exe

Then press enter and when it says "drag and drop the REPLACEMENT logonui.exe" simply drag logonui.exe (the one you extracted from Leaves_Green.zip) into the window and press enter. Then press Y and enter and that's it.

If this still doesn't work, let me know. I'll make the readme more user friendly, thanks for letting me know.

well that's the thing, I tried it twice and the first time I extracted everything onto the desktop; the second time I made it a folder of its own with all files in the same place, and it still didn't work. I'm sure the procedure is straightforward once the .cmd works

That's weird, because I tried it myself and it was fine, I have no idea why it should not work for you.

Try downloading it off his website (direct link: [link]) and trying that one. Extract it all into another folder (My Documents for instance) and run Replacer.cmd and follow the instructions I gave you before. Make sure the file "data" (it has no file extension) is in the same folder as Replacer.cmd.

If that doesn't work, I've modified Replacer.cmd so it accepts uncompressed files . Download this from my scraps ([link]) and extract it into a folder. Besides Replacer_mod.cmd there should be a folder called data, which contains three files. Leave this folder as it is. Double-click Replacer_mod.cmd and follow the instructions. Hopefully this should work.

If by this stage it does not work, and you have not given up, get the Logonui boot randomizer which might be more straightforward for you. When you first run the program, it'll ask you where your logonui.exe is. Find it and that's it, then when the setup process is over just right-click it and choose "set logonUI screen". Ignore anything to do with boot screens.
